``The landscape poured out before Cana as she ran over it, the sun warming her back. Pink tongue lolled out of her mouth, panting loud. Towering blue mountains in the distance reminded the femme of water. She shut her emerald eyes, and let the wonderful image of the pure, cold liquid run through her brain. Dark tawny fur was barely buffeted by the wind conjured by the running. Ebon tipped ears swiveled around trying to catch all the sounds that passed by in a flash, though the sizzling heat that hit rock and drying up moisture could be heard for it was loud and all around. Foliage was scarce in this certain place, the terrain was hard and wouldn't give way. Dust particles flew from the swift paws as claws helped propel her onwards.
``After a few unyeilding moments, the fae came to a rest beside a clump of bushes that offered a small amount of shade. She wasn't far from the mountains, and trees, shrubs, grasses, and bushes of different types began to appear the closer she got. Wriggling under the bush, she rested for a short while, watching white puffs of clouds blow above, pushed by an air current unfelt down on the earth. The sun reached its zenith and began to head towards the opposite horizon before she clambered out and turned an opposite direction from the mountains and started along that way. She stayed in the foliage, looking for even a small trickle of water. Of course she wasn't going to clamber up in the mountains, though she was sure that somewhere among the massive rocks, cliffs and ledges a stream of water ran, perhaps even turned into a roaring waterfall that tumbled over a rock edge into the depth below, or into a small pool embedded into a rock, ripples covering every surface, mist spraying everything close so it appeared darker that it really was. The tawny wolf didn't realize she had stopped, gazing at the mountains, thinking, wondering.
``Her heart was just a black hole in her chest that beat only to keep her living. As much as she thought about the wonderful things in life, everything had a bad side that moved around. She was a predator, and she was the prey. Her mind most likely thought dark thoughts, rarely letting lighter things come in. She didn't trust any canine, and if she ever did, it would take many years before it was deep enough that she didn't have to worry.
